The advantage of working digitally

One of the main benefits of doing art on the computer is that one can easily create several different versions of the same image for evaluation. Trying to accomplish this using traditional mediums is very difficult and time consuming. An added value is that the ability to do different versions of a specific image can be part of a learning, growing experience which can enhance an artist's creative ability. Posted here are two sets of images in which I have created different color versions. These were all done using Photoshop Elements 3.

More digital figure studies

FigureStudy 3Here is a new digital figure study with its negative version. Also two negative studies of the figures from the previous post. Adding a few different colors to the negative versions could make them look even more appealing, although these examples are quite interesting.
These images show what wonderful effects can be accomplished easily with the computer using Photoshop Elements 3.

New digital figure studies

I have been working on a series of new figure studies based on ink line drawings. I first scan in the line art, then manipulate the drawings, then add the color using Photoshop Elements 3. It's a fun technique to experiment with. These will be on display at the Scarlet Macaw Community Art Center in Sawyer, MI. If you are in the area, stop by, several artist are on display.

Sea Nymph print

I found this ink line drawing that I had added color to on the computer. I decided to do a few other variations to show you some of the other color possibilities. The ability to do several different color variations are what makes working on the computer a remarkable experience. It would take weeks to accomplish this using traditional art techniques. The two images just below are my original efforts and following are a couple of new variations and also a negative version of each. I will do a few more variations and will post them tomorrow.

Strange noises in the night

The other night there we were awakened by loud noises in the other rooms. We checked and it was my cat, Jpeg , running wild, she had a sticky mousetrap stuck to her rear paw. She was running as if she were being chased by something. A few years ago I had Terminex check my lower level and I didn't realize that they had put four sticky mousetraps behind the furnace area. I'm surprised that this hasn't happened before as I have three cats. I removed the rest of the traps so this won't happen again.

Trap

The trap had a mouse in it.

Jpeg

After I got the trap off of Jpeg she Crawled in bed and sat there the whole day without moving.

Changes to previous sketch

Here are a few changes that I made to yesterday's painting sketch. I Think that the additions add to the design and make it more interesting. I have also posted a negative version of the new sketch which is quite unusual.

I may do a few alterations on this sketch before I'm finished, I'll study it for a while to see if I can improve it a bit.
